What ATV Sand Tires Should I Buy?
ATV Sand tires come in a variety of styles and sizes. For sizes we like the 10" rims. A larger rim means a smaller tire and a smaller lighter tire gives more performance. For example, a 20x11x10 sand tire and rim weighs less than a 20x11x9 tire and rim. Even if your ATV came with 9" wheels you can put 10" wheels on.
There are 2 basic types of rear sand tires, straight paddle and V-Paddles. V-Paddles are great for general dunning. V's turn better than straights and the V's are the largest selling tires on the market.
Straight paddles give the best performance. If you want to get to the top of the dunes as fast as possible, then straights are your choice.
Our top selling V-paddel is the ITP Sand Star. It hooks up great and turns the best.
We have 2 straight paddles tires we offer, The GBC Dune Tracker 8 And 10 Paddle.
So will a 10 paddle tire make your ATV faster on the dunes than a 8 paddle? Not necessarily. Depending on the power of your ATV a 10 paddle may actually slow your ATV down because of to much bite. It may cause you to down shift to keep your engine in the power band.
Most stock ATV's are going to use the 8 paddle, however if you have modified your ATV to produce more power, then a 10 paddle just might be the ticket.
Front sand tires come in 3 styles, a smooth bald tire, a single ribbed tire, and a dual ribbed tire. We sell both the single ribbed and dual ribbed tires. Sand Star tires are dual ribbed, and the Dune Tracker are single ribbed.
Ask 100 people and you will get 100 different answers on what is best. Some like the single ribbed tire while others like the dual. For performance we like the single as it is less weight.
Our GBC Dune Trackers come in sizes 21x8x10 and 22x8x10. We like the 8" wide front as a wider tire gives better float across the sand.
Sand Stars come in sizes 21x7x10 and 22x8x10. They are great tires, and provide for very positive turning.
We hope this helps you and gives you the information on what tires to choose. If you still have questions, please call us as we are always happy to help.
