In our continuing quest to build a better Rhino, we installed a 686 big bore kit on our test Rhino, and then tested it at Glamis Dunes on 01-13-07.
This kit includes The Cylinder, 11:1 piston, Stage 1 Hot Cam and the Gasket kit.
We Also Have A Dragonfire Dual Guns (Looney Tuned Exhaust) Billet Intake With K&N, Air Box Lid Removed, 192 Main Jet, Dynatek CDI.
Installation time was about 6 hours For The Big Bore Kit.
All speed tests were done on a level road with stock tires. We run our speed tests with stock tires because almost everyone has a set so you can compare Performance.
We Hit 64 MPH in a short run without NOS and 72 with NOS using the stock carb.
Wow this was fun to drive! We are on our 2nd season with this kit and it is a blast. It was fun going just about anywhere we wanted to go.
With the NOS we would pass up other Rhinos going up Comp (Dumont) or Olds (Glamis) hill and give them a head start 1/2 way up the hill.
The NOS was just way too cool, Squeezing the juice would give us another 1200 RPM on the engine.
Whats new for the 08 season?
We are using a the dual carb setup and it makes a big difference over the stock carb, however we don't feel it is that much better than the 45mm Mukuni single carb. and in our mind find it difficult to justify the high cost of the dual carb setup.
We will be testing another CP Piston, with 12:1 compression. Dynatek now has a programable CDI for the Rhino and we will be programing the CDI to retard the timing when we squeeze the juice. This will allow for a bigger shot of the NOS.
We will be testing this at Glamis '08 MLK weekend. Stay tuned for more info!
