California Nonresident Off-Highway Vehicle Information

All vehicles operated off-highway on Public Lands in California are required to be street-licensed or registered as an off-highway vehicle (OHV). If you are visiting California from another state and your vehicle does not have current registration from your home state, you must purchase a California Nonresident OHV Use Permit (sticker) before you go off-roading.

Nevada Residents it is best if you purchase them before you head to California as there is not always a vender to sell them to you. If you go to Dumont or one of the other heavily used OHV areas you can be ticketed, even if there is no one there you can buy a permit from.

For More Info See http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/

Laws Have Changed in Utah. Utah No Longer Has a 14 Day Grace Period, However California OHV Stickers Are Accepted.

Utah Nonresident Off-Highway Vehicle Information

Utah law requires any non-Utah resident who owns, operates or lends an Off-Highway Vehicle for use on any public land, trail, street, or highway in Utah must pay an annual Off-Highway Vehicle user fee. Non-resident permits can be obtained either through the mail or in person at an authorized vendor.
The process for obtaining a non-resident Off-Highway Vehicle user permit by fax or mail is outlined below. (NOTE: Incomplete applications, or applications submitted on other than the approved form, or application packets which do not contain all required fees and documents will not be processed.)
